Spend short amounts of time with her and the cat - maybe 5 or 10 minutes. Show her how the cat likes it when you treat him nicely then give him a treat after petting. Let her try the same thing. If she starts treating the cat too roughly, remind her to go easy so she can give him the treat. If she doesn’t, you take over petting softly and you give the treat. The poor cat deserves the treat! If she yells or gets too noisy, tell her the kitty needs to rest and remove him from the area. Don’t get in a loud argument, it will scare the cat. Your sister is very young so you need to keep teaching. Maybe you can find a children’s book about cats and read it to her. She may learn from that. Good luck. Please keep your cat safe.
