Many Democrats and the media felt that RBG should have retired while Obama was still President so he could appoint a replacement that was closely aligned with RBG and keep the ideological makeup of the court in a similar position. Steven Breyer is 82 which makes him the oldest sitting Justice. He also reliably votes with the left wing of the SCOTUS Justices.

So the real issue is that the dog has had a lot of practice doing something and now we are essentially teaching do this instead. Can it be done? Yeah, you won’t have the fast turn around as a puppy who had much less experience at doing something than an older dog but you can make things better. This is helpful as it is about reinforcing the right choice instead of punishing the wrong one. Very helpful in making changes stick.
