After 70 or so years being close to cats, I've never noticed a difference like that between males and females. I adopted a cat from a rescue cattery (cat's owner being rehoused). Four years old and a girl. As I looked along the cat pens, this one came as near the wire netting as she could, so I bent down, spoke, and offered a finger. She tried to rub a cheek there. Her sister watched from a distance. In other words, she approved. At ten years old, this cat is the most loving I've ever known. When I sit on the sofa, she curls up beside me. If I go to the bathroom she's outside, waiting. All this is to advise you to find one that shows interest in you. Just, if possible, look for one who has lived indoors. It's easier than training one who’s itching to go out. Inoculation, flea deterrent, keep up with it all, get to know your vet, and I wish you many happy years with your dear cat.

All of the above is from the teachings of Nichiren Buddhism. Nichiren Daishon in was a 13th century Japanese monk who followers believe was the Buddha of the Latter Day of the Law. In the Former Day of the Law, which followed Shakyamuni’s death, those attaining enlightenment were more numerous than in the ages that follow. In the Middle Day of the Law progressively fewer people were able to attain enlightenment through the practice laid out in Shakyamuni’s early teaching and in the Latter Day of the Law these teachings (see the three vehicles and the parable of the three carts and the burning house and compare to the Holy Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) are said to fall into confusion and lose the power to lead people to enlightenment. In this age, which we are currently in (according to Nichiren), only the path outlined in the Lotus Sutra ,introduced late in Shayamuni’s teachings, is said to still have the power to lead people to enlightenment.

If all of this is true, then there are many people in the world who are living in the nirvana of remainder (since they maintain this state through death and rebirth and no one has attained the nirvana of no remainder since Nichiren so their numbers are only increasing) as well as sages and arhats but no true Buddhas. Which begs two related questions in my mind: what follows the Latter Day of the Law and will there be another true Buddha?

About the same effort it would take to remove the NEA from the country. Or to remove all the baseball fans. It would be an effort like removing BLM from America. It would take despotic action. And I don’t put that past the leaders of the Democratic party. It’s within their playbook.

They tried to defeat a US President by investigating him for collusion. That failed, but they got from it all the dishonest political damage they could muster. They tried to defeat a US President by attempting to impeach him more than twice. That may have succeeded. They used a worldwide pandemic to damage a US President. That may have succeeded. They lie and play dirty to win. And they’re not aiming to win in service of the American people. Their aiming to gain a lock on Federal power into the hands of the Democratic party.

cv99% of deaths from COVID these days are among the unvaccinated. Variants are more challenging for younger people. You could get COVID, be asymptomatic and pass it on to a dozen other people including your aging relatives.

Everyone’s life has been upended. Shit happens is a valuable life lesson. We are vastly more interconnected than you assume is another valuable life lesson. For you as a 19 year old you can learn by expanding your circle of empathy outside of the brim of your baseball cap to other people, including people you don’t even know.

Take this as a learning opportunity for personal growth. You can be a better person. You can learn empathy. You can learn valuable life skills. Or not.

Any other double play is less likely, such as 3b steps on 3rd and throws to 1st or 2nd (runners have to be on 1st and 2nd or bases loaded). Or catcher gets a throw, steps on the plate and throws to first (bases have to be loaded).

The trouble with training a dog to chase cats is that the dog could injure himself, both in the chase and/or from a cornered cat (cats can take out a dog's eye with one swipe). Another problem is the result may be a dead or severely injured cat and you will be responsible for its death, its owner's grief, and possibly their veterinary bills. Mind you, I don’t know why you find it necessary. I’ve had cats and garden wildlife for years, they exist together in the wild and it’s no different in your garden. All our feeders are in bushes and trees and the water bath and dish on poles and I’ve often seen one of the cats sitting under the birdbath watching intently. Of course, given a chance, he’d have a go but in reality knows that the birds can see him and he’s got no chance, especially when he’s distracted by the Magpies who come down and tweak his tale. I also regularly witness a cat sharing a dish with a hedgehog and we have a squirrel that likes to torment the cats and makes a lot of noise doing it - not sure what he’s saying to the cats but I doubt it’s polite. I often see people blaming the lack of garden wildlife on cats but it’s usually a lack of a decent environment for the wildlife, not cats. Lastly, many dogs chase birds and kill other garden wildlife, so you may just be replacing one problem with another, especially if your dog is a barker. Birds, in particular, like a quiet environment with no drama.
