There was still a problem with Jewish refugees. The survivors had pretty much lost everything in the war and, then as now, it was difficult for the developed world to absorb that many people all at once. It also wasn’t like there weren’t other refugees - Italians were leaving their country at a record rate too for economic reasons. The belief of both the United States, the UK and the UN was that Israel would completely relieve the refugee problem in one fell swoop. That turned out to be largely accurate.
It was clear after the war that Israel was going to be the primary military power in the region. One of the reasons the Arabs lost that war, and the wars after that, was that they had difficulty coordinating their actions and they were all working on different agendas, many of which had nothing to do with the formation of nation states and everything to do with personal authority.
