There is the very real danger of an infection setting in. More importantly, internal damage could have been done, so a vet visit is definitely in order. Can’t be avoided I’m afraid. And don’t put anything on it like an antibiotic. The cat will simply lick it off. Anyway, never use any medicine for your pet that is intended for human use. Let your vet decide on the appropriate course of action. And get to the vet soon so amputation of the tip will not be necessary.
