He took several trips to Russia before becoming president, including the now infamous Miss Universe pageant trip that was cited in the Steele dossier, and supposedly produced the “pee-pee tape.” Stories persist that Trump has been laundering money for Russian oligarchs.
What the information
is matters less than what the Kremlin did with it, which was to meddle
blatantly in the 2016 presidential election in favor of Trump. The
document characterizes Trump as a “impulsive, mentally unstable and
unbalanced individual who suffers from an inferiority complex.” It concludes
that as president he would weaken the US by causing a “social explosion,” and
that Russia could operate more freely internationally, since Putin could easily
dominate Trump in their personal dealings. I don’t expect
any Trump supporter to believe this story, because it makes too much
sense.
