It depends on the cat. The fish is designed to help them with their hunting instincts. Some enjoy playing with it by jumping on it or attacking it. I’ve also seen some videos of cats just laying on it while it is thrashing around. Maybe the cat/s had played with it before laying down on it. I don’t know. Or, there are my two cats. Both of them totally ignore the thing. They sat (about a foot away) and watched it for about five minutes the first time I put it out for them. Since then, they totally ignore it. I did catch one of them laying on it while it was turned off once. He laid on it for about ten minutes and then decided it wasn’t very comfortable, so hadn’t gone back to it. <sigh> From what I hear, though, some cats really enjoy them.
